Formulated to work with the SilkeMat® Fibre Blanket, this non-flammable and non-hazardous liquid will create a strong and resuable mould to use for many firings.

Product information:

  • Easy-to-follow instructions included on bottle.
  • Available in 946ml (1 quart) or 1.89 litres (1/2 gallon).
  • 1 bottle of 946ml Rigidizer will cover approx. 0.2 square metres (2 square feet) of SilkeMat®.

The Rigidizer cures at 788°C for pot melts and vitrigraph moulds. It can even be used to solidify just the outer shell of the SilkeMat® mould to retain a soft, release-free interior for glass slumping. Properly prepared and fired, all SilkeMat® moulds are usually reusable.

When using the Rigidizer, you may skip the pre-fire instructions for the SilkeMat® Fibre Blanket.

Warning: Product contains nuisance dust. Avoid inhaling dust/mist and ventilate work area. Wear an FFP3 dust mask. Clean up with a damp sponge or HEPA vacuum.

This product is fantastic. Unlike most fibre blanket, this can be handled without a mask, feels soft and silky, yet when rigidised, it can create moulds which will last and last. It can be used unrigidised too ...the possibilities are almost endless. I love it.
