Is your glass a striker?

Please note that many striker colours only develop at temperatures above 730C.

Gold bearing striker glass needs a specific firing schedule. Please refer to the information in the product description for your glass to establish its required firing schedule.

Have you used the recommended firing instructions for the colour used?

We suggest watching our video on striker glass in order understand why following the given firing schedules is necessary. If you still have concerns then please get in touch with us.

My glass has cracked

What brand of glass are you using? *

We are sorry to hear that your glass has cracked. This is most likely as a result of the firing schedule you have used, not being suitable for the project you are working on.

We recommend that you refer to the Firing Schedules page of our knowledge base for further information.

We are sorry but we cannot provide technical support for other brands of glass. We advise you to contact the supplier you purchased this glass from for further assistance.

The glass that we sell, Bullseye Glass, is tested to be compatible with itself, and other Bullseye products. If you combine Bullseye glass with other brands, then you run the risk of it not being a compatible coefficient of thermal expansion. This means it can crack during the firing, or shortly afterwards.

For this reason, we will only ever recommend exclusively using Bullseye glass.

My Skutt Kiln is displaying an ERR1 message

I have seeing an Error 7 code on my Kilncare kiln

This error usually occurs on very hot days during the summer - particularly if the kiln is located in a small unventilated room. The controller is registering that the exterior of the kiln is unusually hot and therefore, as a safety precaution has stopped the firing.

This problem is normally resolved by ventilating the room that you kiln is in, and if possible firing at a cooler point in the day.
