Product Information

The HotStart Pro is easy to use, whether you are a beginner or a professional glass worker. The HotStart Pro is similar to the Firebox 14, with the same great controller, but with a smaller chamber size.

We do not recommend regularly firing over 820C in this kiln as it can shorten the life of the elements. If you wish to use high firing techniques such as pot melts on a regular basis, we would recommend a Kilncare kiln such as the Hobbyfuser.

The kiln comes with a 2-year warranty (UK Only)

Special features:

  • The excellent Mini Touchscreen Controller
  • Ceramic Bung
  • Full accessory kit, including- stand, kiln shelf, 3 shelf props, kiln wash (200g) and firing paper.
  • Heptagonal chamber

Energy Credentials:

  • Basic Full Fuse KwH: 7.2*
  • Average Cost of Firing: £1.95*

Please note: Due to the material used to make the lid, they are prone to crumbling or flaking. This is usually cosmetic and does not affect the kiln's performance. This type of damage can be repaired with Skutt Refractory Cement.

*Information based on supplier testing with 6mm Bullseye Glass on a Basic Full Fuse, and will vary slightly between firings. Energy prices calculated using the UK energy price cap of 27.03p per KwH, correct as of the 1st April 2025.

Customers praised this glass kiln as "very beginner friendly" with automated programs and easy-to-follow instructions. Many noted "excellent results" for fusing, slumping, and glass painting. The manual makes programming simple even for novices. Some experienced servicing difficulties after years of use, and parts can be slow to obtain.

Great help from the warm glass team

This is my first kiln, I've done two firings so far and am loving it! Very beginner friendly with automated programs and easy to follow instructions for programming other schedules in the manual.

Warm glass were quick to solve an issue with the delivery (no fault of theirs) and then very helpful with some minor troubleshooting issues I was having. Apparently a common issue with these kilns is that the connecting switch in the lock doesn't quite align, so you need to go in and bend it, but it's a really easy fix.

I have had this kiln 7 or 8 years, excellent first kiln for novices, very easy to use and to programme and takes up very little space. Only reservation is that I am now experiencing serious problems and cannot find anyone who services them. The US manufacturer is extremely helpful and quick if you email them, but obviously, they can neither examine or test the kiln nor work on it, and parts can take a long while to obtain. That is an argument in favour of a British made kiln.

I have had one of these kilns for a number of years and always found it most reliable. I had a problem of my own making and emailed the address on the instruction manual. Within hours I got a personal reply suggesting things I could do to put it right. I can not praise this manufacturer more. I thought it would be useful for those thinking of buying one to know what good support there is.

I am pretty new to glass fusing and utterly love my kiln. I don't fully understand the increase and decrease in temperatures but the automatic programmes (full fuse, tac fuse and slump) mean that I don't need to worry too much about the details. The size is just right for me - the very biggest pieces take the whole kiln but mostly I fit quite a lot of small items in instead. At 50p per fire I feel like I can experiment a bit, and learn more as I go. This might not be great if you are an experienced artist, or want to make large pieces but if you're quite new like me then I recommend it.

I am absolutely delighted with my kiln. It arrived well packaged and within the allotted time slot. It took me a while to take the plunge but i'm so pleased I opted the larger model. The Manuel is easy to follow and the programs are easy to set even for a complete beginner . I wouldn't be without it and can't rate it high enough!!!

Delivered within 4 days of order. Kiln arrived well packaged and took only minutes to set up. Only tried the default programme settings thus far but simple to use and the results are excellent. Would recommend.

This is my first kiln and it is truly amazing. From unpacking, to plugging in and first firing..... wow. It really is easy to use, and easy to understand. It makes complete firing a push button affair, especially for the beginner, with the option to personalize programmes for the more experienced.

As a complete kiln novice, I bought this purely for firing glass paint & silver stain, as opposed to fusing and slumping etc. It's a smashing little kiln, easy to set up and program with the excellent instruction manual. First results are great for both paint and stain. Excellent advice received from Veronica at warm glass and quick delivery too. If the first few days are anything to go by, the kiln and I are going to get on just fine!

Highly recommended from a novice point of view.

Had this running practically 24/7 since it arrived on Tuesday.

Easy to set up, controller super simple to navigate with the help of the excellent manual. Set it to heat some frit balls at max speed and went from room temp to 816 in about 2 hours.

Love it.
