Product Information

These powders can be used in a variety of ways to create sparkles inside the glass or as a mica lustre in a fused, blown slumped or lamp worked piece of glass.

Use as a powder, or try mixing with Glastac Glue and apply like paint.

Use mica with inclusion pens or flexi-glass for ultimate controllability.

Mica is a mineral based powder (frequently used in cosmetics). It does not melt at firing temperatures but rather sticks to the molten glass. For best results, use between glass layers.

Health & Safety

Warning: Product contains nuisance dust and may cause skin irritation. Avoid inhaling dust/mist and ventilate work area. Wear an FFP3 dust mask and gloves. Clean up with a damp sponge or HEPA vacuum.

I have only ever used it blended thickly with Glastac to form a paint effect. I blend it at the edges with other mica powders sold here to make it look like heated copper patina. I encase it in 2 layers of clear Tekta, sometimes with a little black opal at the back where an Aanraku bail can be attached and not seen.

This has a lovely deep ruby red colour with just the right amount of sparkle to catch the light. Mica is wonderfully versatile and is great as a highlighter to add interest to small and large pieces.
