A luxurious fusion of regal purple and gold. The name “Gold Purple” comes from the gold that is used as an ingredient in the manufacturing process.

After firing to a full fuse the colour changes from a dark blue to a deep purple.

Bullseye opalescent sheet glass has an assertiveness and complexity of colour that isn’t matched anywhere. These sheets, when held to light, respond with a fascinating array of complementary hues—like an opal.

Working Notes

Selenium, Sulphur

Cold characteristics:  

A deep royal blue with variations in colour density and transparency that can give it a mottled appearance.

Working notes: 

Matures to purple upon firing, often with mottles and streaks remaining. Additionally, this style often fires with blue hues and is not uniform in colour.

Strikes to such a beautiful colour.

I've tried full fusing this glass in a Firebox 14 kiln at the recommended top temperature of 790°C for 10 minutes and it always comes out so dark that it looks black unless strong light is shining through it.
Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?
WARM GLASS REPLY: This is naturally a very dark glass, especially if layered up to 6mm, which shows its rich purple when backlit. Try layering with clear instead, or for a lighter purple glass try Violet Striker 1234.30
