Product Information

This exciting fibre product is reusable for many firings, safe and can withstand higher temperatures than our standard Fibre Paper, making it a great addition to any studio.

You can also give this versatile fibre blanket more structure with SilkeMat Rigidizer, allowing you to create incredible slumping moulds for multiple firings.

SilkeMat® Fibre Blanket can be used to create:

Each blanket is approximately 6mm thick and is available in three different sizes. These can be cut and handled with minimal safety concern.

It is recommended that SilkeMat® is pre-fired to 788°C for 15-20 minutes to burn out any moisture. Full instructions, tips and advice can be found in the product PDFs.

Please note: If using SilkeMat® as a firing surface for COE90 glass (especially opal colours), a light dusting of dry kilnwash over the pre-fired blanket is recommended as an effective separator.
