Product Information

When placed between the kiln shelf and the underside of a glass project, Papyros® Organic Paper prevents glass from sticking to the shelf during firing. Its sturdy composition provides reliable glass and kiln shelf separation, making it a trusted choice for kiln-formed glass work.

Papyros® Organic is made without harmful additives or treatments, keeping it closer to its natural state. This is reflected in its beige colour when unfired, which turns white after firing. The organic formulation has been re-developed and tested to meet the high standards expected of Papyros® Paper, delivering consistent and dependable results in the kiln.

like this paper as it lasts up to 3 firings and any holes in the paper can be dabbed flat with the finger. yes the surface comes out slightly rough but I find its still smooth enough for necklaces, especially in the first firing

I always use Papyros paper and find it gives a good surface and if careful it can be reused for at least 2 firings, ideally I use it for tack fusing initially. Opal glass will always stick to it so this is my final firing.

This is definitely my 'go to' shelf paper as I regularly get 3 firings from it. You can even heal little nail marks up by rubbing over a little of it's surface dust after catching it when taking things out. I'm sure my vac will last longer because after folding it up for removal there is very little dust to vac out.

I've been using papyros for a couple of years now, it's not cheap but often I can re fire again even after large splashbacks have been created- if I remove them carefully. The biggest advantage for me over thinfire is the folding up of the product when it's totally used up rather than vacuuming every time and clogging up filters endlessly, it's a great product and leaves a lovely smooth finish.

I have found papyrus paper to be quite economical, especially as it can be reused for multiple firings. However, If i am firing opaque glass as the base layer I have found that papyrus paper sticks really badly and so can't be reused, so for this I prefer to use thinfire paper.

I have been really impressed with papyros shelf paper. I have been able to reuse sheets multiple times, you just need to be careful when removing items from the kiln. I leaves a lovely smooth texture to the underside of the glass.

Although this is a huge expense, I think that it is worth it because of the possible multiple use and the safety and cleanliness. There are no puffs of old fibre wafting over work as you try to reuse paper and it has to be better for health for any one who finds a cumbersome mask too often remains unused.

I've Used this for few years now as well as bullseye thin fire but i do prefer papyros of the two as you can do numerous refires if careful not to disturb it... Would definitely recommend Well worth giving it a go ....
