The magnet doesn't pull all the filings, it scratches pretty easy. The plunger is very hard on the hands, making them quickly sore, and takes a long time to produce any fine results.

I've only tried this once, with some clear offcuts, and have been unable to use the resulting fruit as it is contaminated with metal - I've tried removing this with the magnet, but it still looks really dirty. I am, sadly, very disappointed.

I'm finding this useful, in conjunction with the frit sieve. I create a disposable newspaper cowl, secured around the top of the piston with tape to stop powder being airborne.

I have found this very useful especially when I need frit of a particular size and colour and have run out. I use my mosaic cutters first so the bits of sheet glass are of a similar size. also I don't overload the piston with glass. I didn't find there was an excessive amount of powder produced. however I do find that it is quite loud. the magnet is very efficient at removing any metal filings.

Found it really effective for smashing up the large pieces of cut offs that I have into smaller pieces, could do with some sort of cushioning around the handles. If you only have small pieces of offcuts to smash up, I would stick to a mortar and pestel. Brilliant for big pieces but takes a while once they get to a certain size. Also there is quite a bit of powder thrown up while in use, so needs to be used outside.
