Customer Questions
What is the best programme for pre firing a freshly applied ceramic kiln shelf with shelf primer?

You can fire it to 260C and hold for 20 minutes. Allow at least 30 minutes to reach temperature - e.g. an example schedule would be:

333C to 260C, hold for 20m, End. See information under the 'Product Downloads' tab.

How many spoonfuls of kilnwash powder do I use per litre

The mixing ratio is 4-5 parts water to 1 part dry powder so if you are using 1litre of water you will need 200-250g of primer.

Can this be used on stainless steel for fusing?

We recommend using our Boron Nitride Spray with stainless steel moulds for an easy release

Once the shelf with the primer has been pre-fired , what colour should it be ? Light Pink?

Once the primer has been fired on your kiln shelf it should appear as a light pink colour

Can you use kiln wash in moulds

Yes you can use kiln wash on the surface of ceramic slumping moulds. If you are using plaster moulds, it is not necessary to use kiln wash
