Firing Schedule:

Please Read: This firing recommendation has been calculated using Bullseye Glass with a thickness of 6 mm in a Paragon GL24 kiln, and is courtesy of Bullseye Glass Co.

Segment Rate (C/hr) Temp. Hold
1 167C 638C :05
2 999 482C 1:00
3 56C 371C :00
4 999 21C :00

  • Small kilns may require the process temperature reducing. In the Hobbyfuser reduce the top temperature from 638C to 615C. In the Firebox 14, reduce the top temperature from 638C to 595C. All kilns vary, as does glass viscosity. Testing is necessary.

  • Remove the shelf when slumping in small kilns.

  • Side firing kilns may require more time in the first ramp than top firing kilns.

  • Bubbles in slumping are caused by firing too high or holding too long at process temperature.

  • Cracked moulds or cracked glass is caused by firing too fast in the first ramp or cooling too fast.

  • Devitrification on the outside of a slumped piece is caused by firing too high or holding too long at process temperature.

Please note that all our moulds are hand-made and therefore the dimensions may vary slightly from those shown. We strongly recommend cutting the glass to the size measured from the actual mould rather than relying solely on the dimensions shown.

All our moulds are designed for multiple use and with care should last for many firings.

My heart sank when this mould came up as 29 cm not 30 cm because the item required was specific for a 30 cm dish. I carefully placed the glass on the mould worried about the 1 cm overhang & whether the slumped piece would end up with a lip. I need not have worried, it slumped perfectly in the mould in my Hobbyfuser kiln & it sits very well on a flat surface. I've had no problems with this mould, the item is large enough to be striking and the gentle curves on the corners look good transmitting light. I think this is a versatile mould & i'm looking forward to slumping more pieces in it.

Excellent mould with a flat base that stops it from rocking on a table. Fits a 30cm square blank perfectly.

I have followed your slump curve for this mold but sadly there is a big crack over my plate :-( what has gone wrong?? It was so nice when it was full fused as a flat plate. I dont know if I want to risk and use this mold again?
