As complete novices my wife and I bought this as first kiln 12 months ago. It has been great, easy to use especially with Warm Glass's firing guides and prompt answers to email questions. We use it to fuse pendants, coasters, mirror/picture frames and slump an fuse small dishes. There are no downsides to this kiln, it does everything we want, the only BUT, wish we had bought the Firebox14 model for the extra firing space
