Class Description

Amanda Simmons is recognised worldwide for her beautiful drop vessel forms. She continues to push the boundaries of what can be achieved with the methods of forming glass using heat and gravity within the kiln. In this class students will create a range of vessels, focusing on a multitude of techniques from exploring the effects of colour blending, colour dilution and layering, as well as a focus on engraving techniques for drop forms. We will take a look into creating extra tall pieces and expert advice will be given on kiln firings and finishing your pieces to high standard. As well as practical demonstrations Amanda will give presentations on her own artistic practice and experiences of artist residencies.
