Product Information

Take the guess work out of slumping and drop outs. Get to know what’s really going in the kiln when you slump.

“Excellent agenda, the projects were interesting and I felt that I have grasped and understood the technique I can now go away confident to work on my own.”

In this class you gain a thorough understanding of the principles of slumping, creating samples and a drop out vessel along the way.

Time and Place:

Duration 2 Days - 10.00am to 4.00pm - Total 12 hours

Warm Glass UK, 5 Havyat Park, Wrington, Bristol. BS405PA

Class Description:

Prerequisite: Basic glass fusing experience.

Stumped on slumping? Doubtful about drop outs? We aim to demystify the process and help you understand every aspect of slumping glass with plenty of visual demonstrations (including looking in the kiln whilst it’s switched on!).

Demonstrating drop out principles and exploring the viscosity of different colours, we aim to decode and simplify slumping schedules – this helps you think creatively about ways to use different moulds.

This class is packed with valuable knowledge, helping you eliminate any uncertainties you may feel around slumping. From making drop outs to creating your own forms to slump over, we push slumping to its creative limits to show you the full possibilities of this often overlooked technique.

This was an excellent course to learn about slumping and using your kiln as part of this you try making a drop vase. I had gone on the course to learn this new skill but I actually found the information about slumping techniques far more useful and I have been fusing and slumping for about 10 years. However I now feel confident to try new methods of slumping and understand the different requirements.

I have gained confidence in two areas that previously terrified me! Opening the kiln and coldworking are no longer mysteries.

Excellent class, with lots of technical info given in a kinaesthetic way! I will now be able to programme my kiln instead of using the ‘auto’ function and I know I can open the kiln and not loose my eyebrows! Recommended

Thank you very much. I really enjoyed the course and haven’t learnt loads. The coursed content was just right. I’m hoping to be able to replicate good results at home.

I loved this course. Not only did I make a lovely drop vase that I would be confident to make at home with the kit that I have there, but also learnt lot about the qualities of glass and kiln firing schedules which has significantly improved my understanding and will serve me well. I also met some other lovely glassy people on the course.
