Elegant Candle Holder Mould

Make a contemporary piece with this easy to use mould.  Perfect for a soap dish too.

Size: 18 x 18cm square.  The diameter of the inner circle is 9cm.

Please note that all our moulds are hand-made and therefore the dimensions may vary slightly from those shown. Mould manufacturers allow a tolerance of up to 2cm. We strongly recommend cutting the glass to the size measured from the actual mould rather than relying solely on the dimensions shown.

Will this mould fit in my kiln?

For a smaller mould, try the Square Dish with Flat Base Mould 8366.

This is our Basic Slumping Schedule. It is a guideline and you should adjust it to suit your particular kiln, or for different thicknesses of glass. In particular you may need to increase the hold time for segment 1 to between 20-60 minutes for this mould:

All our moulds are designed for multiple use and with care should last for many firings.

I have had varied results with this mould. I have yet to achieve crisp edges as shown especially with opaque glass. I have varied the temperature and length of hold at process temp. My best result so far was with two layers of tekta with hearts kiln carved into the corners. I do like the mould and I think its worth the effort.

Adjusting the top temp and duration has finally produced a piece which is approximately like the mould (although no crisp angles in the recess) with a base wide enough to ensure the piece is stable.

However I had to go up to 680 for 90 minutes in my Pro-Fuser D. Each attempt used a fresh flat piece of fully fused 6mm thick Bullseye. And I may be on the borders of devit.

I also had to drill an additional air hole close to the outside edge of the recess: once the two pre-drilled air holes become covered by the slumping glass they trap air, preventing the glass slumping further.
