To be clear, you must fill with water before use, as per the instructions with the saw.

Will it be a smooth cut or will it be a bit fragmented?

It will be a ground edge and some slight chipping is to be expected. Pieces will either need further coldworking or firepolishing for a smooth result. 

Can this cut 5mm strips?

Yes, this can cut 5 mm strips

How much does it weigh? (Hoping it will fit in a suitcase to take overseas.)

This weighs about 5kg

What is the width of the blade - ie. Cutting thickness.

The thickness of the cutting wheel is 1.3 mm 

can you cut large carbochons with this?

Yes you can cut glass that is up to 20mm thick on the diamond trim saw

Can you cut curves?
