Perfect for layering over strong colours to create a new, unique soft glowing shade. Fire the layered glass then slump into a round mould to create simple but beautiful bowls.
All circles are hand cut by our expert team so you can avoid breakage, avoid waste and save time. Nicely finished and ideal for use with the 8136 spherical mould.
Due to their hand-cut nature, circles may occasionally have very minor points around the edge. These will simply fire out or can be easily removed with a sickle stone.
Even more ethereal than Translucent White (0243). Paradoxically, transmitted light is both softened and made fierier, viewed through Opaline. Layer with itself or with colours.
Cold characteristics:
Looks like clear sheet with few wisps of white.
Working notes:
Matures at full fuse temperatures. Turns more opaque with extended heat work. Works well over bright opal colours to create pastels
Other:
The image below shows the opacity of this glass. The top half shows the unfired sheet against white and black, and the bottom half shows the full fired sheet against white and black:
Warm Glass Tip: This glass is wonderful as an overlay. Try cutting an Opaline and a Clear circle into strips then layer alternately over an opal circle to create a dual toned effect. Then fire and slump to form a bowl. See the Opaline Ring Quick Tip for more inspiration.
