Product Information
Bullseye Frit - Steel Blue Opalescent (Coarse).

This is a remarkable colour which stays blue when fired under a transparent glass or when overglazed, providing it is covered when fired. It also forms a pewter metallic film at lower temperatures if left uncovered. See the 'Special Effects - Steel Blue Opal' tipsheet, and start experimenting!

Bullseye Frit is made from crushed, screened and magnetically cleaned Bullseye Compatible sheet glass. Frits are extremely versatile and can be used in kilnforming, including glass sketch and painting with light techniques, as well as in torchworking and blowing, to create colours and patterns on surfaces.

Contains:

Copper

May react with:

Sulphur, Selenium

Cold characteristics:

Frits can appear slightly different to their fired colour, even when the glass is not a striker. Please see the bottom half of the sheet glass image below for a better idea of the fired colour.

Working notes:

At tack fusing temperatures, the surface frequently develops a metallic gray film. This usually disappears at full fusing temperatures. To avoid metallic filming, use an overglaze or cover with thin clear glass. To maintain the metallic effect, fire as quickly and low as possible. Consider stencil spraying of an overglaze to create patterns of metallic and non-metallic blue. Dark interface reaction likely with sulfur glasses (001137, 001437, 000137).

All our glass is COE90, Bullseye Glass compatible and suitable for warm glass applications such as glass fusing, glass casting and glass slumping (unless otherwise stated in the description).

This is one of my favourite glass products as Frit and sheet. I love the metallic effect when tack fused and left uncovered. It always makes me smile!
