Construction:
The Firebox 14 is a top firing kiln, with the elements in the lid. The lid itself is a lightweight brick construction coated with refractory cement. It has a cool-touch handle and a prop to keep the lid open when filling or emptying the kiln. The chamber is also made from lightweight brick, which is used because it is able to expand and contract as the kiln heats and cools. It also helps reduce the overall weight of the kiln. There is also a vent hole at the front of the kiln, with a removable ceramic bung. The whole kiln is set on a sturdy metal stand.
Programmer:
One of the best features of the Firebox 14 kiln is the reliable and easy to use Glassmaster LT 3 button controller which provides features for both the beginner and the advanced artist. Starting with simple factory set programmes can save a lot of time and a lot of glass. However, as you become familiar with the glass kiln this controller allows you to modify the settings during firing or design your own firings with five additional eight segment programmes, providing you with total programming freedom and confidence.

Chamber Size: The square chamber shape is a major benefit over the otherwise similar Hotstart Pro Kiln. The dimensions are 36 x 36 x 17cm, which means you can fire up to 9 standard 10x10cm coasters at once.
The Firebox 14 operates on standard household voltage, and comes with a UK plug fitted.
We use Skutts in our studio and service all UK Warranties.
We do not recommend regularly firing over 820C in this kiln as it can shorten the life of the elements. If you wish to use high firing techniques such as pot melts on a regular basis, we would recommend a Kilncare kiln such as the Hobbyfuser.
