5 out of 5 stars Friday 26 August, 2011 By Sheila Gates We chose our Nabertherm kiln because a friend was buying a kiln at the same time and as an experienced practitioner we were happy to follow her lead and chose exactly the same kiln as she did. We have not been disappointed and we were pleased to have her expert knowledge at the start when she came and taught a workshop for us at our studio in Norfolk.
We are very happy with our Nabertherm kiln. The technical support from Nabertherm at the start was good for us as we had no previous experience of glass kilns. Once we had the correct schedule for the programmer it was easy to use (if you understand the theory of course) and we have come to rely on the kiln's ease of use and reliability generally. To be honest, I can't imagine life without it now.
5 out of 5 stars Thursday 25 August, 2011 By Mary Quarmby The size and price came into my decision in buying a Nabertherm Kiln F-110, it fits my requirements on all levels with the size of glass fusing I want to do and the space I have in my studio. The kiln is on wheels which means it can be manoeuvered if needed; without them it would be really difficult to move due to it’s weight.
It’s easy to use once you have worked out the way in which you program it and help is on hand if you need it via Warm Glass. I was a little concerned about the height of it and having to bend to place things in it but it’s fine.
I haven’t had any problems with the running of it and the program guide that comes with it has been great. All in all I love it, a very good purchase.
5 out of 5 stars Thursday 25 August, 2011 By Ann Cuthbert I chose the Nabertherm after much research, both on the internet, reconditioned shops and asking fellow glass artists. I had selected two which suited both my price and availability of room but eventually chose the Nabertherm tub shaped because I want to make bigger items. I find the toploading excellent because I can ensure that the pieces are still in place when I close the lid. Also, having support from warm glass was a bonus. I would highly recommend it
5 out of 5 stars Wednesday 17 August, 2011 By Petroushka Sura-Field When I bought the Nabertherm Kiln I already had two other kilns. One small one I use just for beads and the other medium sized one in which I could only fire one larger piece at a time. I really needed a larger kiln to enable me to fire two, three or four pieces at the same time. I did a lot of research before buying the Nabertherm F110 and I thought it would be an ideal size to fulfil my requirements. A friend of mine already had one and she also recommended it as good value compared to others on the market. I must say I am not disappointed with my acquisition as it is easy to use and easy to load (being top opening), it gives a very even heat to all the items inside rather than having hot spots and cooler spots. It came VERY well packaged but be warned it is HEAVY! All in all, I can thoroughly recommend the Nabertherm kiln to any prospective buyers.
5 out of 5 stars Wednesday 03 August, 2011 By Barbara Coulam I love my Nabertherm Kiln. It has revolutionised my glassmaking! I have found it very easy to use, and the staff at Warm Glass are always at the end of the phone for advice if necessary. It is also versatile – I have used it for casting, fusing and slumping. It is big enough to cope with a workshop’s worth of small student pieces, and it also accommodates large individual work. The best bit about it is that is very accessible, so that complex pieces can be assembled straight onto the base and of course the price is low compared with equivalent brands, giving excellent value for money. The running costs are reasonable – I time it to come on at night during economy rates.
5 out of 5 stars Friday 01 July, 2011 By Jane Ellis I'm loving my new kiln and have been trying lots of new stuff I couldn’t try before; I have already done a drop vase and currently making my first strip cut construction.
I am mostly pleased with the value of the kiln in relation to the shelf size, although I kept measuring out how big it would be and I was worried I would be disappointed when it arrived. This definitely is not the case and most people compare it to a bath!!! One thing I was concerned about was that there is no viewing hole, but the kiln is very efficient and you can open the kiln to view and it holds and reheats very quickly. I think this actually helped when using the drop ring as it controlled the temperature well and stopped the drop happening too quickly.
The controller has not been difficult to use and although I haven’t tried all programmes, I have had no problems and I love the time delay feature which means I can programme something I wish to watch for when I am in the studio. Not sure why but it also produced the best work with metal I have done, the copper stayed a lovely colour, something I had struggled to get consistently previously.
I would also like to say that the information and support received from you at Warm Glass has been great and provided the reassurance needed for such a large purchase.
