Product Information
Extra Large Round Slumper

Create beautiful yet functional objects for the dinner table with this mould. Perfect for fruit bowls, salad bowls etc.

Instead of using a round and even glass shape, why not try a wavy or jagged outline for a unique result?

Please note: Does not fit in the Hotstart Pro or Firebox 14 kiln. A smaller version of this shape is the China Soup Bowl 8343.

Size: Diameter 38 cm, Depth 5 cm

With larger moulds such as this one, your glass blank can overhang the mould by up to 1cm without any problems. Wider than this and the blank may catch on the side of the mould during slumping.

Will this mould fit in my glass kiln?

Firing Schedule:

Please Read: This firing recommendation has been calculated using Bullseye Glass with a thickness of 6 mm in a Paragon GL24 kiln, and is courtesy of Bullseye Glass Co.

Segment Rate (C/hr) Temp. Hold
1 167C 663C :20
2 999 482C 1:00
3 56C 371C :00
4 999 21C :00

Troubleshooting

  • Small kilns may require the process temperature reducing. In the Hobbyfuser, reduce the top temperature from 663C to 640C. All kilns vary, as does glass viscosity. Testing is necessary.

  • Remove the shelf when slumping in small kilns.

  • Side firing kilns may require more time in the first ramp than top firing kilns.

  • Bubbles in slumping are caused by firing too high or holding too long at process temperature.

  • Cracked moulds or cracked glass is caused by firing too fast in the first ramp or cooling too fast.

  • Devitrification on the outside of a slumped piece is caused by firing too high or holding too long at process temperature.

Please note that all our moulds are hand-made and therefore the dimensions may vary slightly from those shown. We strongly recommend cutting the glass to the size measured from the actual mould rather than relying solely on the dimensions shown.

All our moulds are designed for multiple use and with care should last for many firings.
