Orange is a bright and brazen colour, which along with Red and Yellow, may shift slightly on firing. It can be enhanced by a transparent overlay such as Rhubarb Pink/Green Shift.

Contains:

Selenium, Sulphur

May react with:

Copper, Lead, Silver

Cold characteristics:

Colour variations common from yellow-orange to red-orange. Some slight streaking is common.

Working notes:

Cadmium/selenium glass. Can fuse darker (more red) or lighter (more yellow) than cold sheet.

This style is not suitable for kilncasting because it can become incompatible when held at high temperatures for an extended period.

Disappointed that Bullseye have replaced the orange opal with a striker. Notification of this would have been helpful. The original opal was a strong rich warm colour which was compatible in temperature to other opals however the striker has a different firing temperature.

Response From Bullseye Glass -

For tack fusing strikers, we recommend pre-firing pale sheet glass to 1480F/804C before cutting and tack fusing. We did not replace the orange opal, but the amount of heatwork necessary to reach target color can vary from batch to batch; and many strikers need to reach full fuse temperatures to fully develop to target color.
